I have been married over twenty years, and I haven't had a relationship with my MIL for about ten years. She started off great by telling my husband and me that she had to go on our vacations with us. As a newlywed, I said NO WAY! Then she told us not to have children because she already had grandchildren. She went as far as almost throwing something on my stomach when I was pregnant with my second son. She has no relationship with my sons and never asks to see them. She went as far as banning us from her granddaughter's wedding years ago. Needless to say, I tell my husband to deal with her on his own. The whole situation was all so unnecessary.

You are a great example to your sons. Well done for being brave and refusing to allow this abuser to infect their lives.
